Okay moms, does your mind race with your constant to-do list?! For me the first hour of the day goes something like this:
Wake up, coffee, attempt uninterrupted time in God’s word, make milk cups, change diapers, nurse baby girl, turn off porch light, start breakfast (who am I kidding, my kids will typically be on their 2nd or 3rd ‘breakfast’ by now 🤣) get kids dressed, clean kitchen from breakfast and MAYBE get myself dressed… this list goes on for the next 12 hours of the day.
I know you’re following me! Your list may look similar or even more crazy than ours above. Not sure about you, but I am constantly looking for ways to simplify our day to day schedule. In order to help, I make the kids lunches the night before our ‘school’ days and I pick out the next days clothes down to the shoe. Every little second counts, especially when you’re trying to get 3 kids out of the house AND top it off by not being a morning person myself. Thankfully we don’t have rushed mornings every day, YET. But the mornings that are rushed, I sometimes back out and drive off only to glance over and notice I forgot to turn off the porch light, again. And again. And again. Finally, Michael came home with a solution. He brought home the Philips Hue. And wa-la, one more item crossed off my to-do list every morning without me actually doing anything!
Here are a few reasons we love our Hue so much:
- Easy to use: Once you have your starter kit, just connect to wifi and download the app. Boom. Power (literally) at your fingertips. You can control color (if you have a color bulb), the dimming level and on/off just by having your phone handy. Oh and if you have google home or Alexa you can use your voice to turn the lights on or off. Awesome!!
- Automated: This the main reason I love it so much. I don’t have to remember to turn the porch light on or off each morning and evening. Also, when we go out of town, they continue to do their thing so it always appears that someone is home.
- Last longer: So I read the box. A standard bulb is predicted to last 1,000-2,000 hours. Okay are you ready for this? The Philips Hue is supposed to last up to 15 YEARS. Or 15,000 hours. WHAT!?! Not only that but it also cost a lot less to have on. No guilt here having 6+ lamps on all day every day ☺️ I am convinced lamps are one way to change the mood of your home so yes, we almost always have lamps on.
I instantly fell in love when Michael got it up and working. In fact, we love them so much that we not only have one for the porch, but the entry way and our bed side tables. I loved being able to wake to my newborn when we first brought her home and use my phone to turn my lamp on 3% to nurse! It was just enough to see but not enough light to wake anyone. I may or may not have a running list of places I want to install the Hue throughout our home. Slowly but surely. 😉
Definitely check the Philips Hue out! After all, who couldn’t use an extra thing to NOT have to worry about in the hustle and bustle of life?
Where would you put your Philips Hue?
Thanks for taking a ‘snippet’ from our world!
